  2. The Department, in partnership with the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA), hosted a session on drafting of Wills at the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) offices. This significant event took place during Wills Week which was earmarked for the 15-19 September 2025.
  3. Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi handed over the exhumed remains of political activists at Skhweyiya Community Hall at Mlungisi township , Komani in the Eastern C ape on 11 September 2025.

  1. Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, delivered South Africa’s General Statement at the four-day 63rd Annual Session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation (AALCO) conference in Kampala, Uganda on 8 September 2025.
  2. Deputy Minister Andries Nel attended two stakeholder engagements hosted by the South African Police Service in Mitchells Plain and Emfuleni respectively. The engagements, which took place on 9 September, form part of a collaborative effort to address the spate of gang related killings in the Western Cape.
  3. Deputy Minister Andries Nel, accompanied by Western Cape Judge President Nolwazi Mabindla-Boqwana and other senior Justice officials, met with the Acting Minister of Police Professor Firoz Cachalia in Cape Town on 10 November 2025.
  4. Deputy Minister Andries Nel visited the Athlone Magistrate’s Court, following a shooting incident outside the court’s premises. Mr Nel’s visit took place on 8 September 2025.

  2. Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi, together with Deputy Minister Andries Nel, tabled the Budget Vote Speech for the Office of Chief Justice (OCJ) in Parliament, Cape Town, on 1 July 2025.
  3. The Department’s youth recently engaged in a dialogue under the theme: “Skills for the changing world: Empowering youth for meaningful economic participation.” The event took place at Brigitte Mabandla Justice College on 27 June 2025.
  4. The Department hosted a Youth and Constitutional dialogue at Freedom Park. Director General, Advocate Doc Mashabane delivered the keynote address during the event held on 26 June 2025.
  5. Director-General Advocate Doc Mashabane, together with Gauteng Provincial Head, Mr Tsietsi Malema and provincial senior managers bid farewell to Mr Anand Moodley after 46 years of service.
  6. The Gauteng Provincial Office held a two-day Provincial Strategic Session focusing on improving service delivery. The session was hosted at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College on 26-27 June 2025. Director-General, Advocate Doc Mashabane addressed officials during the session.

The Constitutional Court, led by Chief Justice Mandisa Maya commemorated 30 years since the establishment of the court. The celebration was held at the Constitutional Hill on 20 June 2025. The event was graced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, former Presidents; Mr Thabo Mbheki and Mr Kgalema Motlanthe, Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and former Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, among other dignitaries.

 

Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi delivered the eulogy at the funeral service of the late Justice Clement Themba Sangoni, affectionally known by his praise name, Aah! Diliz’intaba. The late Judge was laid to rest at Qokolweni in Mthatha,Eastern Cape on 21 June 2025.

 

Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi attended the National Prayer Day for Healing and Reconciliation at the Grace Bible Church in Pimville on 22 June 2025.

  6. Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi established and held the first ever Justice Forum aimed to turn the department’s reputation around. The two-day session was held at Brigitte Mabandla Justice College on 22-23 April 2025.
