As a nation we continue to commemorate 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign under theme Enough is Enough – 356 days to Gender-Based violence and Femicide (GBVF). In order to combat sexual violence, especially against women and children in the country, the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) reintroduced the Sexual Offences Courts in the country in 2013.

Government through various Departments has introduced and implemented various pieces of legislation and support programmes to help curb Domestic Violence.

Tomorrow President Cyril Ramaphosa will officially open Mpumalanga High Court in Nelspruit. Mpumalanga Division of the High Court of South Africa came into operation on 01 May 2019. Mpumalanga community members will no longer have to incur traveling costs to Pretoria in order to access the services of the High Court. Tonight we are discussing the role of the High Courts in South Africa.

The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mr. Ronald Lamola, will officially open the newly built Bityi Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape tomorrow. The opening of this Magistrate’s court bears testimony to the strides that the department has made in its endeavor to broaden access to justice for all through infrastructure development.
