Contingency measures for provision of justice services at the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court

09 March 2022

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has made contingency arrangements at the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court following the temporary closure of part of the Court building due to health hazard concerns raised by the Bojanala District Municipality.

Criminal cases will in the interim, be heard at the Rustenburg Police Station whilst civil cases will be heard at the Traffic Department opposite the Fern Crest. Services such as the child maintenance, Domestic Violence, Harassment, Children’s Court and the Deceased Estates will be provided at the Office of the Family Advocate located next to the court building. Clerks from the Department are available at the Office of the Public Protector, next to Court Building, for the drop off documents.

The Department is working around the clock to resolve the concerns raised and restore full functionality at the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court. We apologise for any inconvenience incurred by court users during this period. The Department remains committed to providing access to justice for all.
