Justice Department working relentlessly to resolve maintenance payment system challenges

21 May 2020

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is working relentlessly to respond to the challenges that have been experienced with regard to the processing and payment of child maintenance.

The Department’s financial management system (known as MojaPay) experienced a database crash which resulted in a major system outage since 04 May 2020. Measures have since been taken to incrementally restore the system in a manner that sought to minimise the further delay in processing of outstanding maintenance payments.

Since its efforts to restore the system, the Department has managed to pay received and properly referenced maintenance amounts on the MojaPay system. A total of 31 181 beneficiaries were paid from MojaPay from Tuesday, 12 May until Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

The Department apologises for the inconvenience caused to beneficiaries and wishes to assure all beneficiaries that it is in the process of fully restoring the system.

Issued by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.
