Three departmental officials were today arrested in connection with corruption related offences at the Office of the State Attorney in Pretoria.
The three are suspected of soliciting illegal gains from service providers in their work environment. The arrests follow an internal investigation by the Department’s forensic unit. It is expected that the three suspects will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
Service providers and/or officials who may have information in relation to suspected fraud or corruption in the State Attorney environment can contact the Investigating Officer, Captain Steven Warmberg on 0725802469.
The arrests are an indication of the Department’s commitment to rooting out all forms of fraud and corruption. We are of the view that the arrests will deter other officials from committing crimes of similar nature in the Department.
Fraud and corruption have potential to undermine our efforts to provide quality justice services. It is for this reason that the Department will continue to act decisively against fraud and corruption.
