Justice Department Mpumalanga Regional Office to lead Anti-Racism march

As part of the activities that are aimed at supporting the anti-racism week, the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development Mpumalanga Regional Office will lead a march in partnership with among others the South African Human Rights Commission, Commission for Gender Equality and the Foundation for Human Rights, Nelson Mandela Foundation, Independent Newspapers, community based organisations.

The march is intended to mobilise society to stand against racism and highlight available legal recourse to deal with it. The march further seeks to raise awareness of constitutional rights and encourage communities to contribute in strengthening the country’s international standing as a human rights-based society.

The march will start at Alroe Park in Nelspruit and end at the Nelspruit Magistrate Court and will immediately be followed by a one hour programme during which community members and stakeholders will pledge their commitment to deal with racism and contribute in building a non-racial society.
