PIC Commission: Commencement of public hearings 21-23 January 2019
The Commission will commence with its public hearings next week Monday, 21-23 January 2019. On the first day of the hearing the Chairperson, Justice Lex Mpati will open proceedings. All the evidence that will be led over the first three days will be from PIC employees.

Decision on the Parole Application of Janusz Walus
Today I announce my decision on the parole application of Mr Janusz Waluz who is currently serving a life sentence at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre.

Mr Walus was sentenced to death on the 15 October 1993 on the charge of murdering Mr Thembisile Chris Hani. He appealed his death sentence, which was later commuted to a life sentence on the 7th November 2000.

Deputy Minister visits Madadeni Court to inspect the delivery of Justice Services
The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery, MP, invites the media to join him when he visits the Madadeni Court in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, 7 January 2019 at 11h00.

The Madadeni Court was recently in the news when it sentenced three men to 18 life sentences, collectively, for the rape of a teenager and her mother.

The Deputy Minister will visit the court to inspect the delivery of justice services to the public as well as to interact with court staff and the users of the court. This is part of the Department’s aim of accessible justice for all.
