Justice Minister to undertake media walkabout at Kimberley Sexual Offences Court

08 August 2018

As part of Women’s Month and in pursuance of government’s commitment to fight the scourge of gender-based violence, the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv Michael Masutha, will, on Friday 10 August 2018, visit the Kimberley Sexual Offences Court to engage with officials and members of the public on the functioning of the court.

Sexual Offences Courts were reintroduced by the Department in August 2013 to provide specialised redress to victims of sexual offences and to reduce the turnaround time in the finalisation of sexual offences cases.

The Kimberley and Galeshewe are among 75 Sexual Offences Courts around the country that are aimed at ensuring a victim-centred approach to prosecution that minimises secondary victimisation of complainants.

Members of the media are invited as follows:
Date:   10 August 2018
Time:  13h00
Venue: New Public Building, Cnr Knight and Stead Streets, Kimberley (Northern Cape)
