NW awards officials for outstanding service practices

The 15th of May 2015 was more than just a normal pay day for the North West Region officials when they were awarded for their efforts in providing excellent services to the people through the Departmental Service Excellence Awards.
The awards, which were held at Mmabatho Hotel School in Mafikeng, saw officials competing for first place under five individual categories namely, People Management and Empowerment, Service Delivery Innovation, Customer Service, Stakeholder Management and Coordination, and Client Orientation Awards.
Addressing officials on the day, Acting Regional Head, Mr Joseph Makutle welcomed all who had attended and congratulated those who would be receiving awards on the day.
“We are very proud to be hosting the awards ceremony for the first time, I believe that these awards will motivate more officials to work with diligence. I also hope that officials’ participation in this particular event grows each year,” he remarked.
Other awards which were conferred on the day were the Best Model Court, Court Manager of the Year, Most contribution to Audit and Best Regional Office Directorate Support together with long service certificates were awarded to deserving officials on the day.
Acting Court Services Deputy Director-General, Mr Tsietsi Malema said all officials who were awarded certificates had shown that they live by the values and principles of the Batho Pele such as professionalism, ethical conduct, effectiveness, efficiency and transparency through their work.
“As we celebrate the achievements of the torch bearers of service delivery in the North West Region, let us remember to adhere to the 30-day payment of suppliers who make events of this nature possible for us,” he reminded officials.
Service Delivery Improvement’s Deputy Director, Ms Siziwe Kenqu encouraged officials who were not nominated in this year’s service excellence awards to work harder in order to win awards in this financial year.
Regions that have held similar award ceremonies include the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal.

- Customer Service –Ms Laverne Petersen
- Stakeholder Management and Coordination - Ms Nancy Gaopalangwe
- Client Orientation and customer Focus – Ms Hettie Stassen
- Model Court- ODI Magistrate’s Court
- Court Manager of the year – Mr Matlakala Mphalo
- Most contribution to audit - Ms Stephina Maine
- Best Regional Office Directorate Support- Ms Lerato Metseeme
