Launch of the United Nations – Orange Day “Unite on violence against women & girls campaign”
South Africa, through the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities (DWCPD) endorsed and launched the United Nations (UN) – Orange Day – Unite Campaign, which is scheduled for the 25th of every month as an awareness and “Say No To Violence Against Women and Girls” in all our communities. Members of the Parliament have been identified as the champions for taking the Gender-Based Violence to their constituencies and beyond.
The Western Cape Provincial launch took place on Saturday, 25 May 2013 at Look Out Hill in Khayelitsha. DOJCD Officials from the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court set up an information stall and distributed justice information booklets and pamphlets to members of the public in relation to all forms of Gender- based violence against women and children.
